I think almost everyone who watches UFC or even amateur MMA fights wonders what it would be like to train and fight like that.
Mixed martial arts training is excellent for those looking to get in shape and for people who want a dynamic workout experience. Finding a good MMA gym is essential for those looking to actually fight.
While we don’t have MMA Classes, we do have specific programs that you can train in and use for MMA. We also have fight training specific for MMA rules. Our kickboxing classes and Jiu Jitsu are perfect for fitness and actual fight training.
I think it’s super important to surround yourself with positivity wherever you can. Work, friends, and certainly your gym / martial arts studio / dojo. We may not have much of a choice when it comes to who we work with, but your hobbies should be free of toxic people.
You should leave your gym feeling better than you did when you entered it. Granted, sometimes adversity happens. Like a move you practiced didn’t work. Or maybe your partner accidentally kicks you in the jaw. But overall, your gym should be a positive experience.

Starting Friday April 13th we’ll be offering a class just for women.
The class is open to all experience levels and all gyms! We’ll be covering tactics, drilling, and we’ll roll as well.
This is a free class, but I do ask that you bring a donation for the Women’s Place. This is a shelter for women In Rochester.

In some ways Rochester has made it easy to stay fit. Almost every major suburb has a Planet Fitness or LA Fitness. These gyms offer flexibility with 24 hour fitness, as well as workout classes like Pilates.
However, I urge people looking to improve their health and fitness to also consider martial arts classes.
Almost every class will have cardio and strength training worked into it. Many people are surprised at how much exercise is involved. While you’re working out you’ll also be learning how to defend yourself. Martial arts also teach body awareness, flexibility, and perseverance.

Martial arts offer an engaging way to get lifetime fitness. Instead of going to the gym and hitting the treadmill or weight bench, try a martial arts class. You’ll learn new skills that are very useful and important. Such as self defense and stress management.
I’ve done both. Back when I was in my late teens I explored some gyms near me, but training in Karate at the time was so much more engaging. Thanks to Martial Arts I’ve been able to stay active and fit, I look forward to my workout each night.

We are proud to host this months Community Roll! An event when area Rochester NY Jiu Jitsu schools come together and have a huge open mat. Practitioners from all over Rochester NY can get together and roll with different Rochester BJJ martial artists. We are really excited about it!
