According to NYS martial arts are now able to be open. However, things are going to be a bit wonky until we are out of phase four.
We are going to be following all the state guidelines for keeping everyone safe and healthy.
Modified Schedule
Monday-Thursday:
Little kids 4:30-5:00
Older kids 5:30-6:00
Adults 6:30-7:30
What to Expect
When you come to class you need to bring a mask. They are required for classes. Bring your own water or be prepared to purchase one, we cannot provide water from the pitcher. Come already wearing your uniform, as changing room usage is restricted. If possible, try to use the restroom before coming to the dojo.
When you arrive you will be given a quick health screening, including a temperature check. Everyone who comes to the dojo needs to be signed in with Sensei Leigh or Brennan.
Class Structure
Training will be socially distanced. Students will be spaced six feet apart. Each person will have a marked area of the mat, this will give you your own personal space to train in during class. Classes will follow the usual format with warm ups and stretching, and everyone will be guided through the lesson.
Unfortunately, once classes are concluded kids need to leave right away. Normally we are more than happy to let kids hang out after classes, but to stay within the guidelines we have to limit who is in the dojo.
None of the communal equipment can be used unless specified by the instructors as part of the class. This includes the sparring gear, kick shields, jump ropes, etc. Kids need to be respectful of this rule, and we may need parents to help us enforce this. Uniforms need to be taken home and washed after each class. Anything you bring with you needs to go home with you as well.
All adult classes will be grouped into one general class. This way there will be plenty of material for instructors to use and the classes will have more options for solo work.
We Can’t Wait to See You All!
I know this seems like a lot of crazy adjustments, but it is very important for us to follow the guidelines and recommendations. We don’t want anyone getting sick or feeling unsafe. We promise you will have the same awesome classes you had before COVID.
Let us know if you have any questions or concerns
See you soon!
