Finding Health and Fitness in the Martial Arts

In some ways Rochester has made it easy to stay fit. Almost every major suburb has a Planet Fitness or LA Fitness. These gyms offer flexibility with 24 hour fitness, as well as workout classes like Pilates.

However, I urge people looking to improve their health and fitness to also consider martial arts classes.

Almost every class will have cardio and strength training worked into it. Many people are surprised at how much exercise is involved. While you’re working out you’ll also be learning how to defend yourself. Martial arts also teach body awareness, flexibility, and perseverance.

Wondering how to lose weight? Instead of going to the gym stop in and try a kickboxing, BJJ, Judo, or Aikido class!
