few ways we can help you develop self defense skills at Rochester
Phoenix Martial Arts.
If you are strictly looking for self defense training, we do offer personalized self defense courses. We will work with you to develop a program that will meet your needs. This typically includes a mixture of situational awareness training and the application of self defense techniques.
Another way to go about developing self defense skills is by training in one of our martial arts programs. Some of the programs here have a stronger self defense element than others. We recommend our Isshin Ryu Karate and our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu programs.
Self defense is a major part of the Karate curriculum, and is incorporated into almost every class. Striking, blocking, and grab escapes are all practiced in our Karate program.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaches ground fighting, and also incorporates a self defense element into the classes. Escapes from pins, clinches, and strikes are drilled regularly.
